For video editors, understanding the basics of motion graphics means knowing when to use them, how to make them feel intentional rather than amateurish, and when to reach for a ready-made template versus building something from scratch. You don't need to be an After Effects expert to use motion graphics effectively, but you do need to understand the principles behind what makes them work.
