Title Safe

The title-safe area is the innermost guide zone, set in from the frame edges, where text should be placed so it is never cut off by display overscan or platform cropping. It is more conservative than the action-safe area because clipped text is far more disruptive than clipped picture. Historically it protected against CRT overscan; today it still matters because broadcasters crop, set-top boxes overscan, and social platforms add their own UI over the edges. Editors keep lower thirds, names, captions, and graphics within the title-safe guides to ensure legibility everywhere the video plays. Most NLEs overlay title-safe and action-safe boxes on the program monitor as a toggle. Respecting them is basic professional discipline that prevents embarrassing cut-off text on real-world screens.
