Timeline

The workspace where clips are arranged in order to build the edit.

The timeline is the heart of an editing program — a horizontal track layout where video and audio clips are arranged, trimmed and layered over time. Reading and organizing the timeline (video tracks above, audio below, the playhead marking the current frame) is a fundamental editing skill.
