Video Editing Glossary

Sequence

A container in the timeline holding an arrangement of clips at set settings.

A sequence is the edit container — it holds your arranged clips and defines settings like resolution and frame rate. Projects often contain multiple sequences (for versions, scenes or aspect ratios), and sequences can be nested inside one another to organize complex edits.
