Power Window

A shaped, often tracked mask used to grade part of the frame.

A power window (Resolve's term for a shape mask) isolates an area — a face, the sky, a corner — so you can grade just that region, and it can be tracked to follow motion. Power windows are how colorists draw the eye and balance a frame. They are secondary grading in action.
