Video Editing Glossary

NLE

Non-Linear Editor — software that edits clips in any order, like Premiere or Resolve.

A non-linear editing system (NLE) lets you arrange and rearrange clips freely on a timeline, unlike old tape-based linear editing. Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and CapCut are all NLEs. Non-linear means you can change any edit at any time.
