A command that loads the source clip in the viewer parked on the exact frame currently under the timeline playhead.
Match frame jumps from the timeline back to the original source media, opening that clip in the source viewer cued to the identical frame the playhead is sitting on. It links what you see in the edit to where it came from. Editors use it constantly: to find more of a take for a longer cut, to grab additional handles before a trim, to locate a clip in the bin, or to back-trace a graphic or effect to its source. A common follow-up is marking new in and out points on the matched source and overwriting an extended version into the sequence. Because it preserves the exact frame, match frame removes guesswork when you need to extend, replace, or reference the media behind any point in your cut.
