Video Editing Glossary

Keyframe

A marker that sets a value at a point in time so properties can animate.

A keyframe records the value of a property — position, scale, opacity, volume — at a specific moment. By setting two or more keyframes with different values, the software animates smoothly between them. Keyframes are how editors create movement, zooms, fades, and audio ducking.
