Video Editing Glossary

Fine Cut

A refined edit with tightened timing, transitions and detail, near final.

The fine cut follows the rough cut: every edit point is tightened, transitions are refined, pacing is polished, and the structure is locked. After the fine cut comes finishing — color grading, sound mixing and titles — leading to picture lock.
