Crossfade

A gradual blend between two audio clips (or video) so the join is smooth.

An audio crossfade overlaps the end of one clip with the start of the next, fading one down as the other comes up, to avoid clicks and abrupt jumps. Short crossfades smooth almost any audio edit. The video equivalent is the dissolve.
