Video Editing Glossary

Close-Up

A tight shot, typically of a face, that emphasizes emotion or detail.

A close-up fills the frame with a subject — usually a face — to deliver emotion, reaction or an important detail. Cutting to a close-up draws the audience in and signals significance. Overuse dilutes its power.
