Loop

A loop is a short segment of audio or MIDI that is repeated over and over to create a continuous, seamless part — a drum beat, a bass line, a chord pattern. Looping is at the heart of electronic music and modern production: producers build tracks by layering loops, and a well-made loop should join back to its start without any audible jump or click. In a DAW, almost any clip can be set to loop, and dedicated loop libraries supply ready-made, royalty-free loops to build with. Loops are also a powerful practice and performance tool, letting a single musician layer parts in real time with a 'looper' pedal or software.
