Choose your frame rate to match your stream target, then keep it there. If your output is 30fps (common for talking webinars and lower-bandwidth setups), stream the camera at 30fps; if it is a high-motion gaming or reaction stream at 60fps, run 60. Mixing camera frame rate and stream frame rate causes judder, so pick one cadence end to end. On the encoder side, 1080p60 typically wants around 6000 kbps bitrate.
Switch fully to manual exposure mode (M) and turn off Auto ISO. Set white balance to a manual Kelvin value, never auto. Auto white balance re-guesses color as you move objects or the light changes, so your skin tone drifts warm and cool through the stream, which looks unstable and makes you hard to color-match if you add a second camera. Pick the value for your key light: about 5600K for daylight-balanced LEDs, 3200K for warm tungsten.
If you run a controlled lighting setup, set a custom white balance off a gray card under your actual lights for the most accurate skin tone, then lock it. The discipline is the same as exposure: decide once, lock it, and the feed stays consistent for the entire session even as you gesture, drink, or shift in your chair.
Autofocus on a static stream should stay put, not hunt. The most reliable approach is to set focus once on your face and switch to manual focus so nothing can drift mid-stream. If you prefer the safety of continuous AF (in case you lean in and out), set continuous AF with face and eye detection, a low tracking sensitivity, and a slow transition speed so the camera resists refocusing on background motion and never makes a visible hunting wobble.
Keep ISO conservative. Gain is the noisiest stage, and noise on a stream gets crushed further by the platform's compression into smeary artifacts. Light your scene properly so you can sit at or near base ISO; raising ISO should be a last resort after you have added light. A clean, well-lit base-ISO image survives streaming compression far better than a bright but noisy one.
Run the same sequence before every stream so nothing surprises you on air. Confirm clean HDMI is showing no overlays, resolution and frame rate match your capture card and encoder, exposure and white balance are locked manual, shutter matches your frame rate (and is flicker-free under your lights), focus is set on your face, and ISO is as low as the light allows. Then verify your capture card shows the feed in OBS and audio is peaking sensibly.
Power and connection are the silent stream killers. Run the camera on AC or a dummy battery, disable auto-power-off, and use a quality HDMI cable rated for the length you need. With the image locked and the power secured, you can focus on the content instead of babysitting the camera.
