Footage you cannot reshoot is one drive failure away from gone — here is a backup and archive system that actually survives disaster.

Video files are large, irreplaceable, and stored on hardware that will eventually fail. A single dropped drive, corrupted card, or accidental format can erase a wedding, a concert, or a client project that can never be recreated. The 3-2-1 backup rule — three copies, on two types of media, with one off-site — is the industry-standard answer, but applying it to the realities of large video files takes a deliberate workflow.
